En-Gen win SME of the Year and Investing In Future Growth at the Spirit of Enterprise Awards 2020

On Friday 16th October, En-Gen Diesel Products attended the virtual Spirit of Enterprise Awards held by Great Yarmouth Borough Council.

Being voted as finalists in the SME of the Year and Investing in Future Growth categories was a testament to how far the company had come since 2017. On the night, En-Gen won both of the awards!

Here’s how far En-Gen has come since starting…

En-Gen Diesel Products was established in June 2017 by Directors Nigel Haylett and Anthony Hills.

Nigel and Anthony had worked together in previous positions on many business development assignments very successfully and decided to take the plunge going into business, hence En-Gen Diesel Products evolved.

For two years they worked tirelessly to establish their name globally as suppliers of Diesel engines and related spares.

With over 30 years of individual experience, Nigel and Anthony took the company from zero to £1.8 million pound turnover.

In January 2020 they took on a second unit and opened an engine service and rebuild centre to offer their clients a single source of repair for their equipment.

With Steve Binding joining as the service manager and Kyle Block to support the sales and service requirements, the company looked to expand their customer base to grow both the sales and service departments.

Phill Kirby and Nathan Bollington joined the company as engineers and quite quickly the service work started to grow with Kevin Williams joining the business as the workshop labourer shortly after.

In February 2020, En-Gen were awarded their first major contract for engine rebuilds for an offshore supply company. This gave En-Gen the opportunity to show what they could offer.

During this contract, like many businesses, En-Gen were affected by the COVID lockdown but had to support our client throughout as they were classed as a vital industry and therefore exempt.

With staff on furlough and minimal workforce, En-Gen Diesel Products carried on and completed the contract under very difficult circumstances which we were very proud of.

This has seen further work opportunities come our way and working closely with other new clients has enabled us to build a strong reputation within the industry as a provider of quality rebuild and repair services.

With more engineers joining the team, we have a very experienced and knowledgeable department to assist our clients moving forward.

With a recent award to supply and fit two engines into a pilot boat application and further Detroit Diesel and Caterpillar rebuilds which are ongoing, we are looking forward to a busy period for the company.

To be awarded the Spirit of Enterprise SME of the Year award and also for Investing in Future Growth is a testament to how far the business has come in a short space of time.

We thank all of our staff for their tireless efforts alongside our clients and suppliers as we could not have achieved this without you all.
